Our Mission
Jewish Education Program (JEP) of Montreal (a division of Centre Chouva Israel) is a non-profit community organization that seeks to heighten Jewish pride and foster a deeper commitment to Judaism.
Centre Chouva Israel, situated in Cote Saint Luc since 1998, was originally founded by Rabbi Asher Benoliel. First starting out as a House of Study, the Centre eventually evolved into the Kollel Avreichem.Today it is led by Rabbi Yehuda Benoliel, Rabbi Asher's son. It services approximately 300 young families in Montreal. Thanks to the spiritual growth of the community, the Centre provides many Torah classes for men and women, as well as numerous programs and events for teens and children of all ages. The Centre also instituted a charity fund as a resource to help the poor in the Community.
Recently, Centre Chouva Israel and The Emanuel Epstein Jewish Education Program (JEP) joined forces. JEP, under the directorship of Rabbi Eli Friedman, is a non-profit organization that seeks to heighten Jewish pride and foster a deeper commitment to Judaism. JEP's goal is to provide a basic Jewish Education for anyone searching for his or her roots, and wanting to understand what Judaism is truly about. JEP's teachers are young, dynamic and open-minded, and are very involved with high school, college and university students. Through clases, lectures, Shabbatons, and ongoing student programs, JEP reaches all types of men and women throughout the community.
We hope that our exciting new partnership will become a more powerful force in many peoples lives, as we double our efforts to connect Jewish people to their rich heritage.
